What are the chances of running into a rattlesnake this time of year in Alabama?

It's in a heavily wooded area near a pond in southeastern Alabama. The weather has been fairly mild (50's during day/ 30s or 20s at night), and occasionally warm (75 or higher). Are the rattle snakes and water moccasins still likely to be in hibernation? If not, is it best to make alot of noise as I walk to let them know I'm coming, so I don't startle them?
