Can I leave UK for an emergency and return whilst an Appeal is outstanding in Asylum & Immigration Tribunal?

I have lodged an appeal against an unfair decision in the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal last week (under Non-Asylum category). Now an emergency has come-up in my home country and I need to leave UK for a week. Please advise what procedure I could apply?
